The Maintenance Shed -

The Ranger is responsible for the general upkeep of the Gateway Area Council properties.  This covers Camp Decorah near Holmen, WI, Hoffman Park near Black River Falls, and the Scout Service Center in La Crosse.  

What does the Ranger do?
Ongoing maintenance to existing facilities, including seasonal conversions.  Twenty four by seven presence at Camp Decorah to safeguard the facilities and limit usage to those individuals and units with correct permission.

Developing and overseeing short-term and long-term projects undertaken to expand or improve Council properties.

Support the Summer Camp program area needs.

Oversee the material (and, future, volunteer) resources that can be used by Scouting groups to support their own program. For example, canoes, snow shoes, and miscellaneous camping equipment.

Works with the Council Camping Committee to make sure our camps and facilities are ready for use now and into the future.

Wish List - Items needed for camp.  Donations or reduced-price sources gladly accepted.

Improvements - Short term and long term improvements planned for camp.  Adopt a project and help it become a reality.

Construction - Have a look at the progress of the construction at camp.  

Last minute push - nearly every weekend once the snow melts. Camp Decorah Holmen, WI. Help with finishing projects around camp, and firewood.  Chainsaw safety lessons available for those 18+ by contacting the Ranger in advance, then can help with downed wood.  While we'll have work for all age ranges, please ensure that Cub Scout Age youth stay with their parent(s).
