Happenings - Seven Rivers...

Welcome our new District Commissioner, Cindy Sjolander!

  • FOS: Right Around the Corner... The Gateway Area Council Friends of Scouting Campaign is nearly here! Seven Rivers will have an outstanding jump start on the Campaign thanks to the Troops that have/are hosting early bird presentations. Remember to let me know your Blue and Gold or Court of Honor dates so that an FOS representative can plan to attend. The sooner we reach our goal, the earlier we can end our campaign and feel great knowing that we can focus more time and energy on exceptional programming for our youth!
  • Commissioner Basic Training This course is for all Commissioners new and old and also for those interested in becoming Unit Commissioners. It will be held at Camp Decorah in the Dining Center on January 7th, 2012. We are always in need of more as Unit Commissioners, do not hesitate to contact me for more information. It is a very critical and unique position to hold in the Council.
  • 7 Rivers Klondike The Klondike this year will be on January 21st. It will be $10 per Scout and involve a program of snowshoeing and atlatl throwing. Stay tuned to your emails for more information. Troops are encouraged to attend the planning sessions for the Klondike, held during the Activities Committee meetings.
  • The Mall Show! District Pinewood Derby! Troops, Crews, and Packs mark April 14th down on your calendars! We are taking over the entire mall for Scouting! Each District will have their own wing in the Valley View Mall where individual units will show off some of their coolest activities, gear, awards, and crafts. Scouts will get a passport which will get stamped each time they stop at another unit's booth to check out their display or participate in their activities. Seven Rivers is also hosting our District Pinewood Derby at this event! Plan your Pack's Derby early and send me your unit winners immediately following the event. We will have a pack champion division, an open Cub Scout division and an open division for Boy Scouts and adults.
  • Hike-a-thon will be June 2nd, 2012

Plan ahead and save the dates!  Its never too early to get in your unit's registration. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
