Happenings - Winding Trails...

Friends of Scouting 2012...

Each Cub Scout unit and Boy Scout Troop should be planning to host an event such as a Blue & Gold Banquet or a Court of Honor. This venue is a wonderful opportunity for the district's Friends of Scouting presenter to speak with families about the importance of supporting the Scouting program. Participation is encouraged and helps to "grow" Scouting. To have the presentation be successful it is important that families are invited and that a program or award ceremony is prepared. The presenter will need about 15 minutes of the program. Often a potluck or social is part of the event. I know December gets so super busy but if I could have your date by January 6, 2012 I would greatly appreciate it. Let's get those calendars out and get the dates secured. You may call or email your information as soon as possible to your District Executive, Mary Freybler at maryfreybler@yahoo.com or 608-738-4726.

Rechartering Time

As the new year approaches, there is some annual housekeeping that our units will need to complete. The annual re-charter paperwork will soon be available. The most preferred way to complete this process is online. Instructions will be circulated with the information. Please remember that signatures will be needed as well as payment for each person listed on the charter.
Having an on-time re-charter is an important part of The Journey To Excellence process. with the exception of a couple of our units, re-charter paperwork is due by January 31, 2012. Please contact the council office or Mary with questions.

District Dinner Celebration 2012

It's that time of year again!!
The District Dinner will be held at Jake's Northwoods in Sparta, WI on Thursday, February 9, 2012. This event is for all leaders and guests to share a wonderful meal and camaraderie. Seating begins at 6PM. The meal will consist of ham or rotisserie chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, salad, green beans, coffee and milk. The cost for the event will be $15 per person. Please register by completing a dinner registration form by no later than Monday, February 6, 2012.
I encourage you to enjoy this evening out with Scouting friends.
